Wendy Mink

It has been more than 20 years since artist and designer Wendy Mink first began her New York City based jewelry design company. Over this time, Wendy Mink Jewelry has evolved from small scale design and manufacturing into a substantial business that combines great quality and workmanship with innovative, eclectic design.

Wendy Mink began her jewelry business in 1988 after completing her MFA at Columbia University. Mink first became inspired to begin her own jewelry company after extensive work and travel through South East Asia. Her travels began with a position working for the World Bank, where Mink gained extensive knowledge of economic development in this area. During this time, Mink developed an immense appreciation of the beauty and craftsmanship behind jewelry and textiles associated with the women of this area, from their traditional wedding dress to everyday clothing and adornment. Mink formulated her company shortly after returning from the East, quickly earning a solid reputation and securing a place in the competitive jewelry industry.

The success of Wendy Mink Jewelry since these early beginnings is due not only to Mink's own inspired designs but also to the team of highly skilled Tibetan women who handcraft each piece of jewelry in the Greenwich Village based studio. This studio is also home to a small team of production and press staff who work closely with Mink to market and distribute jewelry. A retail store linked to the studio provides an outlet for NY based clients to view and purchase a tempting selection from the recent and past collections.

Mink's signature pieces combine aspects of traditional Eastern world jewelry with classic European design. The collections themselves are an ever-changing array of beautifully crafted jewelry that traverse style boundaries and succeed in appealing to a hugely diverse market. Only the very best materials available are used in her work - the silver is sterling and the gold finish is 22k vermeil. Accents include genuine semi-precious stones, Swarovski Austrian crystal and freshwater pearls.

In recent years Wendy Mink Jewelry has received substantial media coverage with appearances in a variety of international publications, including; Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and Harpers Bazaar magazines.
